San Miguel de Allende
leg 1:
Mexico by air
The closest airport to San Miguel de Allende is QRO (Queretaro, Mexico). We’ve found there are direct flights here from a handful of US airports, including Denver.
The second closest is BJX (Guanajuato Internatl Airport, Leon, Mexico). We personally haven’t flown here, as flights from our area limited.
For an epic adventure, consider flying into Mexico City (MEX), spending a few days, then taking a first-class bus to San Miguel de Allende.
leg 2:
the Condo by road
For airport runs between San Miguel (SMA) and Queretaro (QRO) or Leon (BJX), the shuttle is an easy win - it’s comfortable, simple to book, and runs like clockwork. A trusted local driver is a great backup plan.
For a bigger adventure from Mexico City (MEX), consider taking the 5-hour first-class ETN bus from MEX to the SMA bus station (it claims to take 3 hours… you’ll want to plan on more). The seats are like lazy-boy loungers, and some of the buses are even double-deckers. It’s less straightforward than flying to QRO, but a great way to appreciate the setting of San Miguel, the heart of Mexico!

Ubers and taxis are an option if you get in a bind, but the common advice is not to take unknown taxis in Mexico, especially from the airport.
